Gates Fund Commits $50M to Support Women in Tech

Pivotal Ventures, founded by Melinda Gates, has announced a new initiative designed to support women in tech through the development of three emerging tech hubs. Chicago, the first of the three tech hubs to be named, will share $50M with two other U.S. cities over the next five years. The initiative, named GET (Gender Equality in Tech) is designed to attract other funding and investments centered on women in the tech field within these chosen cities. We're intrigued to see how focused funding can help foster growth of the tech sector in emerging centers, as well as the impact on increasing women's engagement and inclusion in the field. This novel approach appears to have a great deal of promise. What are you thoughts on the initiative?
